Project Overview

Scope of Work
E&B was contracted to design and implement a national-level qualitative study aimed at exploring the perspectives of VAC stakeholders on the factors that contributed to changes in children’s experiences of violence in Kenya between 2010 and 2019. The key deliverables of the assignment were:

  1. Development of the study protocol

  2. Conducting a desk review of key national-level policy documents, commitments, actions, relevant program reports, and other Kenyan VAC study reports

  3. Conducting key informant interviews with relevant stakeholders

  4. Data analysis, triangulation, and interpretation of data collected through the desk review and KIIs.

  5. Development of a concise research report with the study findings

Outputs/Key achievements
Policy Impact:
Findings were launched by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and are now being used to inform the revision of the National Response Plan for the prevention of Violence Against Children in Kenya.

Global Dissemination:
Several presentations have been held to disseminate the findings globally through webinars and Conference Presentations including:
• ISPCCAN Conference, June 2023.
• The International Conference on Child Protection in Africa (ICCP-Africa), November 2023.
• East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC)’s Best Practices Forum and Health Ministers Conference, June 2024.
• Accepted for oral presentation at the SVRI Forum, October 2024.
