Every day, organisations make decisions that shape programmes, policies and people’s lives. Good decisions require more than data alone. They depend on understanding evidence, drawing on practical experience and lived realities, and making sense of it all in context.

We work alongside organisations to make better decisions by bringing together research, practical experience and lived experience. Together, we build the shared understanding needed to design stronger programmes, policies and systemss

What Does BEYOND Mean?

Better decisions require more than evidence alone.
Research, data and learning are essential. They help us understand what is happening and what may work. But evidence rarely speaks for itself. Organisations need to interpret it, challenge assumptions, bring it together with practical and lived experience, and apply it within their unique context.

That is what “BEYOND” means.

We help partners make sense of evidence, not simply generate or translate it. By bringing together research, practical experience and lived experience, we build the shared understanding needed to make better decisions. From there, we support organisations to design, strengthen and continuously improve programmes, products, policies and systems, ensuring that evidence leads to meaningful action and lasting change.

What Makes Us Different

We help organisations make better decisions by broadening what counts as evidence.

We bring together research, implementation experience, lived experience and contextual knowledge so decisions are informed by the full picture, not just one source of evidence.

We build shared understanding before building solutions.

We create the conditions for partners to question assumptions, align perspectives and develop a shared understanding before deciding what to do, leading to stronger decisions and greater ownership.

We design for action from the beginning.

Everything we do is shaped by how it will be used in practice, so evidence is easier to apply, solutions are more relevant, and implementation is more likely to succeed.

We stay alongside partners as decisions become action.

We continue supporting implementation, learning and adaptation so that organisations can respond to challenges, improve over time and achieve lasting impact.

OUR APPROACH

Evidence alone doesn't change anything. We turn it into decisions, solutions, and results that last ,with the people who have to make them work. The illustration below shows the five core elements of our approach:

Together, these steps ensure our solutions are tested in reality, owned by the people who use it. Built to last.

How We Support Organisations

Whether you’re commissioning research, strengthening a programme, developing a strategy or translating knowledge into action, our services are designed to work together. We help organisations connect understanding, strategy, capability and action, ensuring every investment contributes to better decisions, stronger implementation and lasting impact.

Research, Learning & Evaluation

Understand what matters before deciding what to do.

Turn insight into practical action.

Build the capability to turn plans into practice.

Turn learning into influence and action.

FEATURED WORK

Evidence put into practice.

Strengthening School-Based Violence Prevention in Kenya

We are partnering with the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) to strengthen child safeguarding in Catholic schools. Together, we have built foundations for violence prevention through hybrid learning and workshops, and are now co-designing a multi-level, faith-aligned prevention package using evidence, practice experience, and the voices of teachers and learners. This phase will include developing and pretesting draft materials with KCCB teams and diocesan facilitators, then refining them to produce a final package ready for implementation.

The LEARN Toolkit — Creating Safer Schools in Kenya

We are partnering with the Ministry of Education, Teachers Service Commission, LVCT Health, and school communities to end corporal punishment in Kenyan schools. The LEARN Toolkit equips learners with life skills, trains teachers in positive discipline, supports school leaders to embed safe school policies, and engages caregivers to reinforce positive practices at home. This pilot phase will test the feasibility and acceptability of the toolkit in Kiambu and Homa Bay Counties, using feedback from learners, teachers, and parents to refine materials before national scale-up.

Strengthening Regional GBV Prevention in Southern Africa

With support from GIZ through the Partnership for Prevention, we worked with SADC to strengthen Member States’ capacity on GBV prevention. We introduced the SADC GBV Prevention Handbook through a webinar, virtual sessions, and a regional workshop, building shared foundations, fostering peer exchange, and preparing trainers and policymakers for more effective, evidence-based programming across the region
