Evidence & BEYOND supported the development of a locally adapted training package and referral resources to strengthen the health-sector response to gender-based violence in Sierra Leone.
The work focused on equipping health workers with practical knowledge and tools to recognise and respond appropriately to GBV, while strengthening referral pathways and the consistency of survivor-centred care within the wider health system.
Evidence & BEYOND supported a regional initiative spanning 16 Southern African countries, strengthening knowledge and capability around evidence-informed GBV prevention.
The work created opportunities for countries to learn from one another, strengthen technical understanding and connect evidence with the practical realities of designing and implementing prevention approaches across different contexts.
Working with Eldra consulting, we used human-interest storytelling alongside the wider qualitative evaluation to create a different way of hearing from caregivers about their experiences of the programme.
Dedicated follow-up interviews, ethical storytelling and photography were used to develop 14 narratives that kept individual experiences visible alongside the broader research findings.
Research page: We conducted a multi-method qualitative study across Ganze, Kaloleni and Magarini sub-counties to understand participant experiences, programme implementation and the contextual factors shaping delivery, generating practical learning to inform future adaptation and scale-up.
Parenting page: We conducted a qualitative evaluation across Ganze, Kaloleni and Magarini to understand how caregivers, implementers and other stakeholders experienced the integrated NPPP-NICHE model.
Through focus group discussions, key informant interviews and qualitative analysis, the study explored changes in parenting and family life alongside the implementation conditions that could influence programme improvement and wider scale-up.
Research page: Evidence & BEYOND conducted a baseline evaluation in Kilifi South to establish evidence on parenting practices, family relationships, gender norms, household vulnerability and exposure to violence, informing programme adaptation and future monitoring.
Parenting page: We designed and delivered a mixed-method baseline study with 398 caregivers across all 11 locations in Kilifi South, examining parenting practices, discipline, gender norms, family relationships, violence-related outcomes and the wider conditions shaping caregiving.
The study established a foundation for future measurement while generating practical evidence to support programme adaptation in a new implementation setting.
Evidence & BEYOND is supporting AWE / GIZ to develop an interactive e-learning course for employees and managers across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The assignment combines workplace GBV prevention expertise with adult learning design to create a self-paced digital course that helps learners recognise, prevent and respond to GBV in professional settings. Our role spans content review, course framework development, script development, technical quality assurance and support to digital production.
The course is being designed for delivery through atingi.org, using short interactive modules, scenarios, reflection exercises, quizzes and knowledge checks to make complex prevention content accessible and relevant to workplace realities.
Our team delivered a year-long accompaniment programme supporting research teams across Africa and Asia to develop and strengthen research uptake plans through progressive workshops and project-specific mentorship, covering stakeholder engagement, messaging, activities, work planning, monitoring and researcher-practitioner collaboration.
Evidence & BEYOND led a national qualitative study examining changes in children’s experiences of violence in Kenya between the 2010 and 2019 Violence Against Children Surveys, exploring the policies, programmes, institutional shifts and prevention and response systems that may have contributed to change. The findings were used by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to inform the revision of Kenya’s National Response Plan for preventing violence against children.
Our team supported four Evaluation Fund research projects in Tanzania and Uganda through a structured accompaniment programme combining facilitated learning and tailored mentorship. Teams developed project-specific research uptake objectives, stakeholder strategies, workplans and monitoring approaches, with continued support as they moved into implementation.
An evidence-informed, multilevel intervention co-designed with LVCT Health and currently being piloted in four schools in Kenya, with learning informing refinement and future scale.
A multilevel, faith-aligned school violence prevention programme co-created with KCCB and diocesan teams and now being piloted, with implementation learning used to strengthen the model for wider use.
