Gathering evidence is one part of the work. Deciding what it means, what it changes and what should happen next is where Evidence & BEYOND comes in.
We are an Africa-rooted thought and technical partner connecting research, policy and practice. We help organisations navigate complex decisions by bringing research into conversation with practical experience, context and the perspectives of people closest to the issue, creating a stronger basis for action.
Evidence & BEYOND began with a clear concern. Organisations had a wealth of research, data, programme experience, lived experience, and local knowledge at their fingertips. The missing piece? A way to bring those forms of knowledge together, understand what they meant, and use them to inform decisions and action.
We exist to help close that gap. Evidence & BEYOND helps organisations turn a fuller understanding of the challenge into clearer decisions, practical solutions, timely learning, and stronger policies, programmes, organisations, and systems.
Our beliefs shape how we ask questions, build relationships, and turn knowledge into better decisions and action.
Research Evidence, Practice-Based Knowledge, and Lived and Contextual Knowledge each contribute part of the picture. Bring them together, and a fuller understanding begins to emerge.
Trust gives people the freedom to ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions, surface uncomfortable truths, and learn openly.
People, policies, practices, organisations, and systems constantly influence one another. Pull one thread, and something else always shifts.
Evidence earns its keep through what it helps people decide, improve upon, and change.
The strongest answers rarely belong to one person. We bring partners and varied perspectives into the process, creating solutions with those who will carry them forward.
Needs shift, contexts change and new learning can redraw the picture. We adjust as the work develops while keeping its purpose firmly in sight.
Rigour matters, but so does usefulness. We deliver research, thinking and solutions that hold up to scrutiny, work in practice and serve their intended purpose.
We tell the truth even when it complicates the answer. Honesty and transparency guide every relationship, recommendation and decision.
We honour our commitments, communicate clearly, and deliver consistent, thoughtful work within the timelines agreed together.
Better answers begin with better questions. We look beyond the obvious, challenge assumptions, and remain open to the knowledge, perspectives, and possibilities around us.
One area of expertise alone is rarely enough to solve a complex challenge. That’s why Evidence & BEYOND brings together a multidisciplinary team with deep, complementary experience spanning research, evaluation, programme design, policy development, capacity strengthening and implementation. Our team has worked alongside governments, funders, civil society and delivery partners across diverse contexts.
When a challenge calls for additional expertise, we draw on a trusted network of evaluators, communications experts and sector specialists. Rather than fitting a question to a fixed team, we build the right team around the challenge.
